What Warden knows about you: almost nothing.
Warden (com.ag.warden) is an Android focus app built on the principle of friction as a feature. Your lock schedules, whitelist, registered morning object, and usage patterns stay on your device.
1. Information We Collect and How We Use It
Warden requires specific permissions to function as a "high-friction" app blocker. Here is how we handle that data:
A. Camera and Image Data
- Purpose: Used solely for the "Morning Routine" object scanning feature.
- Privacy Protection: Warden uses Google ML Kit for image labeling. All image processing is performed locally on your device. Warden does not upload, store, or share your photos or camera feed to any external servers.
B. Usage Data (Foreground App Detection)
- Purpose: To determine if a "Locked" app is currently being used so the WardenLock overlay can be displayed.
- Data Handling: We monitor the package name of the app currently in the foreground. This data is processed in real-time by the WardenService and is not logged or transmitted.
C. Device and Debug Information
- Purpose: To provide technical support when you contact us.
- Source: When you use the "Talk with us" or "Feedback" features, the App generates a pre-filled email containing your Device Model, Android Version, and App Version.
- Control: This information is only sent if you manually choose to send the email.
D. Local Storage (SharedPreferences)
- Purpose: To save your settings (e.g., wake times, routine duration) and current lock state.
- Data Handling: This data is stored locally on your device in a file named WardenPrefs. It is not synced to a cloud unless you use a system-level Android backup.
2. Permissions Required
To provide its core functionality, Warden requires:
- Display Over Other Apps: To show the WardenLock screen.
- Usage Access: To detect when an addictive app is opened.
- Camera: To scan your morning routine object.
- Notifications: To maintain the Foreground Service and ensure the app isn't killed by the system.
3. Third-Party Services
We may use the following third-party providers:
- Google ML Kit: For on-device object recognition.
- Google Play Services: For app updates and basic analytics.
- Firebase: For optional crash reporting and cloud messaging.
These services may collect information used to identify you. We encourage you to review the Google Privacy Policy.
4. Data Retention
- Local Data: Settings and routine data remain on your device until you clear the app data or uninstall the App.
- Support Communication: If you email us for support, we retain that correspondence to assist you with future requests.
5. Children's Privacy
Warden does not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent and discover your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location (e.g., GDPR in the EU), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Since most Warden data is stored locally, you can exercise these rights by clearing the App's storage in your Android system settings.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the version name within the App.
8. Contact Us
If you have any questions or suggestions about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us through the "Talk with us" section in the App drawer or at: gupteaarya09+warden@gmail.com

TL;DR
- We do not sell your data to any service.
- Camera frames for morning scans are processed on your device with on-device ML Kit — not uploaded to our servers.
- App usage detection uses Android Usage Stats, read locally to trigger WardenLock.
- SharedPreferences on-device store your settings and lock state.
- No account required. No cloud sync of your blocking history.
